Newsletter – November 2010
Dear Parents and Students,
A whole month has passed since the beginning of term. Everyone seems to be settled in and enjoying their classes.
First of all I would like to applaud all those who took part in Dance Power on the 30th October. I was really proud of all of you. You performed very well. I guess all those rehearsals paid off. Thanks especially to Ms Fiona for her choreography and for co-ordinating all rehearsals with the senior students. Special mention also goes to Giulia Raciti and Julia Sammut who were chosen to participate in the opening number with other students from dance schools all over the Island. You made us proud!!
Senior students and teachers had the opportunity to participate in master classes offered by Mr Richard Glasstone (Fellow and Senior examiner for the Cecchetti Faculty, ex- Senior teacher for boys at the Royal Ballet School - White Lodge). He was brilliant! We all learned so much from his classes. May I encourage more students to participate in the future because we all need the International exposure. It is an opportunity you should not miss! Well done Advanced 1 and Advanced 2 students who all participated.
The teaching staff is very satisfied with the general behaviour of students and their concentration during classes. In fact, during the first month we have managed to cover most of the syllabus with the various levels and across all disciplines. Of course, there is a lot of polishing to do to bring the standard to an excellent level. Parents will be invited to attend a parents' day where they can watch their children dance. We will also be handing out individual reports to every student. Please do not hesitate to contact the individual teachers should you require any further clarification.
Most of the younger classes have reached a very healthy number and in the case of the Recreational course we have had to split the class into two groups to give every child the individual attention she or he deserves.
Intermediate and Advanced 1 students are very busy preparing for their exams which will be held on Saturday 11th December. For this reason no lessons will be held on this day. Instead we will be following the Saturday timetable on Monday 13th December to replace all classes missed. Hope that this does not cause any inconvenience. We appreciate your understanding.
Whilst wishing you all the best, I remain yours truly,
Ms Rowena Grech (Principal)
